IF YOU LIKE SOMETHING, PUT A BIRD ON IT/zara embroidered bomber jacket

Fell in love with this jacket right away.  I'm a total sucker for anything with a bird on it.  But I have to say that Zara's website continues to dazzle me this season (bird or not) and I just can't stop placing orders!

Also, I was very much inspired by the April 2013 NYLON Magazine, as I decided to do the whole veil/baseball cap look.  Love it!  Too warm for a beanie, so I might as well incorporate the veil in another manner.

Check out Jerrmaner...always looking good!  SEE/homme

A TASTE OF SPRING/katie by katie gallagher katie legging

I'm so craving spring right now.  It's been warm the past few days in Denver, so I decided to create my own spring by wearing this floral kimono that I purchased in LA.

Also wearing my new Katie By Katie Gallagher leggings.  I am so in love with these!  I have been following Katie Gallagher for a while now and I just love everything that she does.  I find myself constantly impressed with her pattern making...she is just on another level!  If you haven't looked at the pictures from her shows then you must do so immediately!  It would be an absolute dream come true to attend one of her shows and get a close-up view of the clothing, the hair, the make-up and even the nails.

I was super excited when I saw that Katie Gallagher had an affordable line of clothing selling online...and I knew that a transaction was inevitable.  So what did I buy?  These perfect leggings with a visible seam...so perfect, I could almost cry.

REWIND/t by alexander wang velvet cami maxi dress

Not always a big fan of maxi dresses, but this one was too good to pass up.  It reminds me of the 90's and that was a time that I truly loved.  I think of the 90's and I hear the Sneaker Pimps playing and get a mental image of the girls from The Craft.  It's fun to wear clothing that reminds you of your youth...it's just like traveling back in time.  I guess time travel is possible, Jerrmaner.

P.S. I purchased this dress with my gift credit for winning The Outnet's Shoe Friday contest.  Make sure to enter!

LIFE WITHOUT COLOR/h&m motorcycle jacket

A motorcycle jacket was something that I desperately needed this season.  I have a few versions in my closet, but I felt like I needed something fresh.  I found some cute ones on ASOS, which I still may order. But for now, I opted for this H&M one...just a little instant gratification until the others arrive.

Also while shopping at H&M, I found a bunny head cuff for my little niece.  So cute that I couldn't help but buy one for myself too.

PETER PAN/metal collar necklace

I became obsessed with these collar necklaces while in Paris.  I saw so many of them on the streets, but yet I couldn't find one to purchase.  Lucky for me, I was able to find one at H&M last week and now (as expected), it is my new favorite accessory.

Sure, I could have just ordered the Louis Vuitton metal collar, but I figured I should get my fix with a less expensive version...at least to start.  Taking baby steps is a sign of maturity. :)

THREE-DIMENSIONAL/t by alexander wang ruched jersey miniskirt

Trying to spend as much time as possible with my open-toed shoes before the weather turns cold.  I can't believe that summer is almost over!  I am not as excited about F/W shoes in general, but this year I am really wondering what to buy.  Yes, I love the F/W 2012 shoes from Celine, Prada, Miu Miu and Phillip Lim, but do I need them?  I am not fully inspired to transact yet.  I think it's just my Denver mentality coming out...I know that my shoes take a beating every winter and the idea of subjecting such beauties to such a brutal environment just breaks my heart.

BLOSSOM/prada black snakeskin bow platform sandals

Jerrmaner and I decided to check out the Denver Botanic Gardens.  I, of course, wanted to wear something floral and decided upon this amazing Boutique U&I duster that I purchased in Montreal.

It started to rain as soon as we arrived at the gardens.  Kind of made for a cool vibe while shooting pics.  I actually love the rain and despise umbrellas...I figure that I am completely waterproof, but I don't have the same nonchalant attitude towards the umbrella.  Have you ever noticed how careless people are with umbrellas?  One of my ultimate fears is to be stabbed in the eye with the little tips of the umbrella during a rainstorm...umbrellas turn into weapons when absent-minded people are added to the equation.

SPORTY SPICE/t by alexander wang baggy silk combo t dress

So I have been in a bit of a sporty mood lately, which inspired me to whip out this old baseball cap that I purchased from the GAP years ago.

Also wearing my tourmaline watch that is supposed to relieve fatigue...something I desperately need during these 100+ degree days of summer.  I do not thrive in the heat.

BRILLIANT MISTAKE/alexander wang cecilia bootie

When I think of the name Cecilia, I think of one of my all-time favorite movies, The Virgin Suicides. With that reference in mind, the idea of posing next to a tree seems brilliant, right? While I would love to say that the direction of this shoot was premeditated, I find that I cannot lie to my readers....this shoot was nothing more than a brilliant mistake that lead to a "happy accident". On this particular day, we found ourselves pressed for time and so we pulled over at the Auraria campus to snap a few quick shots.

Why am I discussing Cecilia anyway? Well the name of this particular shoe style is Cecilia and I make it a point to know all of my shoes by their name. I mean after all, we do live together.

Anyone that knows me at all knows about my addiction to Wang. Yes, I know, I may have a problem, but in my mind, the dude can do no wrong. I think that Alexander Wang is to the fashion world, what David Chang is to the food world...they both take things that we know and revive them with a breath of excitement. Cummerbund meets boxing short?! Cummerbund meets track pant?! And tuxedo pant meets spats?! Are you kidding me?! This is pattern making at its best! Plus zippers and fur meet sunglasses! You almost find yourself thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?" But the fact remains, you didn't and he did; therefore, Alexander Wang comes out as the genius.

Dollhouse Vacancy loves you, Alexander Wang!

MOON STALKER/isabel toledo for payless lunar moon boot

A more casual look for a trip to the mall on Super Bowl Sunday. We wanted to go to the mall because we thought it would quiet since the game was on. Not the case...it was a fiasco! And so, I have decided that we can only go to the mall on Saturday nights. Don't you people watch football?!

Anyways...let's discuss the ensemble. I know you have seen these pants before (they are some of my favorites), but everything else is making its first appearance here on Dollhouse Vacancy. Can we give a round of applause for the moon boots? Yes!! Little moon booties for your viewing pleasure...bet you didn't see that coming! I love these shoes. They are again, from Payless (I'm blushing a bit while saying that). This time they are Isabel Toledo. I've always wanted a moon boot...not really, so scratch that. I should say that I've never wanted a moon boot until I saw that they came in the form of a bootie and well...until I saw these. They are adorable and yet, a bit ridiculous. I thought they would add the perfect bit of funkiness to this casual ensemble.

The vest is another favorite. This vest adds instant chic to just about anything. Rather than "just add water," think "just add vest" for instant sophisticated cool. And it does...every single time.

ONE BIT/hilfiger bennington high duck boot

First of all, let's talk muff. I think that a muff is one of the great forgotten accessories...along with tiaras and sweater clips. I love a fur muff, but it is rare to see people using them. This muff is especially alluring, as it takes on double duty and seconds as a handbag. Swoon!! Love items that make fashion practical...doesn't happen often, but when it does, I'm just tickled!

I can't stick much in this bag, but I can usually fit just enough to get me through a night out.

The top two bracelets on my left arm are INRETROspect again. Told you! Once you have one, you will want many.

The second bracelet down on right arm is one of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Latin bracelets, purchased at the wonderful Bookmarc in New York.

All other bracelets are vintage.

The boots take me back to my youth. My mom used to make me wear duck boots when I was little and if they would have looked like these, I don't think I would have minded one bit. These are the Hilfiger Bennington High Duck Boot and from the moment I saw them sashay down the runway, I knew that they had to be mine. Such a refreshing twist on classic footwear...absolutely brilliant, Mr. Hilfiger!
