I WANT IT ALL/shopping around reykjavik

Jerrmaner and I did one day of shopping in Reykjavik and we went by ourselves.  Our traveling companions would not have had the patience nor the endurance to keep up with us on one of our shopping excursions.

I can't say that I purchased a lot in Iceland.  I found myself out priced at almost every shop we visited.  Of course, I don't mind spending the money on something if I really love it, but I found myself thinking "I can get that online" as I walked through the different shops.  Sad but true, but the entire world is at our fingertips with the Internet; which then results in less vacation shopping for me.  I think the best thing to do when you go on a vacation is to allow yourself to be inspired by what you see around town and work from that...which is exactly what I did.

The first night in Reykjavik, I saw the most adorable couple on the street.  The girl was wearing a pair of magenta velvet leggings, heels and I think a fur jacket...I cannot be entirely sure about the top portion of this ensemble because I was so fixated on the leggings.  The guy was wearing jeans, a tuxedo shirt, tuxedo jacket and a bow tie...something I saw men wearing quite a bit while in Iceland.  Nevertheless, after seeing this couple, the idea of buying a pair of velvet leggings became my mission.

I found one pair at an amazing boutique called Kassetta.  Actually, this was probably my favorite shop we visited while in Reykjavik.  Everything in there was one-of-a-kind, as the owner only buys one of each color to ensure the item's originality.  I purchased a green pair of velvet leggings, an amazing ice cream necklace and skeleton bone leggings.  Jerrmaner insisted that I not buy the green velvet leggings because he feared that I would resemble the Keebler elf.  I went out on a limb, purchased the green and I will be posting them soon.

Another shop we found was called Suzie Q.  There, I found another pair of velvet leggings but this time in black.  Be on the lookout for lots of velvet in upcoming posts.

P.S.  Some of these photos were taken in the shops in Reykjavik and some are photos of things that I purchased.  They had the most glorious home decor shops!  I got so many great decorating ideas and absolutely fell in love with Tulipop!  I would also recommend checking out Minja.

Disclaimer: There is an exception to my Internet theory.  While in Reykjavik there was a book called Dolls & Molls with works by ErrĂ³.  My assumption that this item could be found online was incorrect and now I am desperately longing for it.  If you know of the whereabouts of this item, please contact me immediately.  Thank you.

THE RUM IS RED/allsaints spitalfields hair idris pumps

This is my favorite time of year.  I love the feeling of fall and Halloween, but it seems that I always miss it.  Jerrmaner and I are leaving for Iceland on Sunday and we will be gone for a week.  It seems that every year I have a great costume idea but because I am gone, I am never able to actually execute it.  Next year...for sure?

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to go to the pop-up Halloween stores.  I love the smell of them...the smell of plastic.  Don't ask me why that's a comforting smell to me, but  I just find that I can't get enough.

So...Dollhouse Vacancy is officially on a hiatus.  Will be back with many new photos to share.

REWIND/t by alexander wang velvet cami maxi dress

Not always a big fan of maxi dresses, but this one was too good to pass up.  It reminds me of the 90's and that was a time that I truly loved.  I think of the 90's and I hear the Sneaker Pimps playing and get a mental image of the girls from The Craft.  It's fun to wear clothing that reminds you of your's just like traveling back in time.  I guess time travel is possible, Jerrmaner.

P.S. I purchased this dress with my gift credit for winning The Outnet's Shoe Friday contest.  Make sure to enter!

OPEN DOORWAY/modern vice capri wedge sneaker

Wearing my new Modern Vice sneakers.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I already have this shoe, but I decided that I really needed another color.  I believe that if you really love something then you should buy it in every color that it comes in.

TUX BY DAY/rianna phillips digitally printed scarf

Fell in love with Rianna Phillips' prints as soon as I saw them on Instagram.  I knew that I had to do my research and find out everything this designer had to offer.  So...I checked out her Etsy shop and found this amazingly enchanting scarf.  Isn't the print spectacular?  Spikes and crystals create an intriguing metal wonderland.  So fabulous, that I chose to wear my scarf as a bandeau top just so I could show off the print.

BACK ALLEY/vintage fur jacket

Quick shots before Jerrmaner and I went to a haunted house on Saturday.  Just in case I had to run,  I opted to wear my sneakers and belt bag.  Good planning on my part because I ran through the entire haunted mansion.

P.S. I just couldn't resist buying these glow-in-the-dark Halloween gloves from the Dollar Tree.  Don't worry, they won't be short-lived...I'll be wearing these all year long.

PRONE TO WANG/alexander wang cummerbund silk-crepe pants

There are two obsessions of mine that I would like to share, the first one being Alexander Wang and the second one being The Outnet.  And when the two combine pure magic takes place.  I am always waiting for the "Just In: Alexander Wang" emails to appear in my inbox and when they do, I have to strike!  Buying Alexander Wang can be quite competitive at times.  I'm surely not the only one that has Wang fact, I think it's pretty common and people refer to girls like me as "Wangettes."

Anyways...the Fall 2011 collection was recently added to The Outnet.  That was one of my favorite Wang collections to date.  Loved the streamers, metallics, fur and tuxedo-inspired detailing.  Need a refresher?  Click here.

HOW TO KISS A LEOPARD/kirna zabete for target sleeveless drawstring jumper in leopard kiss print

So, there I was, just buying some socks when I saw this little stunner.  I had no intention of buying yet another Kirna Zabete for Target piece, but how could I resist?!  It is just amazing how expensive some of the designer collaborations for Target can look.  This collection, in particular, is incredibly high quality...and the prints are to die for!  And I am loving the leopard kiss print!

I am a fan of Kirna Zabete anyway and the boutique is on my agenda for all my trips to New York.  It is like a candy shop for fashion lovers...not too big, not too small, but just right and filled with wonderful clothing and accessories from all of your favorite designers.  The online shop is fun too.  Need a pick-me-up?  Do a little perusing through this virtual treat at
